Pietreczko starts at the World Championship: The darts pro from Nuremberg has recently had big problems with whistles from the crowd. That could be particularly tricky on Tuesday.

Germany's darts high-flyer Ricardo Pietreczko has openly threatened the audience at the World Championships in London with disrespect. The 29-year-old from Nuremberg spoke of "a boycott threat to interact with the audience" if spectators booed him again. "If people don't want to see me, I don't understand why I should accept something so disrespectful. It's just disrespectful," Pietreczko, nicknamed Pikachu, told the German Press Agency ahead of his World Championship start in London.

Pietreczko will make his World Championship debut on Tuesday evening (22:00/Sport1 and DAZN) against Japan's Mikuru Suzuki. When the up-and-coming professional recently played against England's Beau Greaves at the Grand Slam of Darts, he was loudly booed in Wolverhampton. In the constellation of man versus woman, this happens again and again in darts.

Pietreczko allowed himself to be provoked by the crowd, lost 1:5 to Greaves and then played a match against Nathan Aspinall in which he completely ignored the fans. The Frenchman wants to behave like that again when the fans boo him on the biggest darts stage in the world. "On stage, I just want to be me," Pietreczko announced.
