Danish prime minister faces street assault.

Mette Frederiksen, Denmark's Prime Minister, suffered an assault in Copenhagen. She was beaten by a male suspect in a city square on Friday night, and the police have now apprehended the attacker. Frederiksen's office revealed that she was shaken by the occurrence.

Authorities initially acknowledged a situation linked to a government official, without sharing specifics. One individual was taken into custody, and an investigation was underway. No further information would be divulged at present, as stated on the police's online portal X.

"This comes as a shock to everyone around her," Environment Minister Magnus Heunicke penned in an online statement. "Such incidents are not meant to occur in our wonderful, secure, and liberated nation."

EU Council President Charles Michel rejected the "cowardly assault" in a declaration on X while EU Parliament President Roberta Metsola deemed it a repugnant attack, asserting that violence is inappropriate within the political realm.
