The 49-year-old Dane, Peter Christiansen, will now take charge as the sports manager at VfL Wolfsburg. He's set to begin his work there starting July 1st, according to the announcement made by the club on Friday. VfL Wolfsburg's Supervisory Board chairman, Frank Witter, expressed delight at being able to bring on board an accomplished football professional with an impressive resume.

Christiansen is scheduled to work together with sports director Sebastian Schindzielorz, where both of them will be tasked with setting all the necessary levers in the club. Schindzielorz had been brought into the club by Marcel Schäfer, but departed from Wolfsburg in April. He is currently in negotiations with RB Leipzig.

Christiansen has served as the professional football director at the top Danish club, FC Copenhagen, since 2021. His role there saw him involved in the dealings that resulted in the transfers of striker Jonas Wind (2022) and goalkeeper Kamil Grabara (2024) to Wolfsburg. Prior to that, he held the position of sports director at Danish clubs Aarhus GF and Randers FC.
