Damage after storm - trees and scaffolding toppled over

The Reutlingen police headquarters reported fallen trees, scaffolding and road signs after a stormy night. There were at least eight operations on Sunday night, said a spokesperson. In Meßstetten (Zollernalb district), a tree fell onto the road. This later led to an accident with property damage.

In Balingen (Zollernalb district), the police had to put up scaffolding that had been blown over by the wind. In Kohlberg in the Esslingen district, the wind had bent over road signs, according to the police. Construction fences also fell down in several towns in the Esslingen district. Several trees fell in Rottenburg and Tübingen.

According to the German Weather Service (DWD), winds of up to 60 kilometers per hour swept across the Baden-Württemberg lowlands on Saturday. On Sunday afternoon, gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour could blow there. In the Black Forest, the DWD is expecting hurricane-force gusts, and even gale-force gusts of around 130 km/h on the Feldberg.

The intense winds during the storm caused scaffolding to topple over in Balingen, leading to potential weather-related accidents. Due to the heavy storm, several trees and road signs were reported to have fallen, resulting in accidents with property damage, as seen in Meßstetten.
