Star Wars star Daisy Ridley has revealed that she has been diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, an autoimmune condition. "It's the first time I've spoken about it," the 32-year-old actress told fitness magazine "Women's Health". The disease was diagnosed in the British actress last September. Ridley played the Jedi apprentice Rey in the latest "Star Wars" trilogy.

According to the report, Ridley felt unwell after filming the thriller "Magpie". "I thought I was just feeling really run down from playing this intense role," she said. She experienced symptoms such as hot flashes and fatigue.

Hashimoto's disease is an autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks the body. In the case of Hashimoto's, it produces antibodies that affect the thyroid gland, causing it to produce too many hormones and leading to hyperthyroidism. The condition often first appears between the ages of 11 and 15, and is more common in girls than boys.

Despite her role as a resilient Jedi apprentice in "Star Wars," Daisy Ridley faced personal challenges with Hashimoto's disease. Her diagnosis came after experiencing symptoms while filming "Magpie."
