How to Enjoy Wordle
You can access Wordle at its home on the New York Times website. A fresh puzzle is released every day at midnight, according to your local time.
Begin by guessing a five-letter word. The letters in the word will transform into green if they're correct and accurate, yellow if they're the right letters but in the wrong order, or gray if the letter doesn't appear in the day's secret word at all. For additional information, refer to our tutorial on playing Wordle here, and my advanced tips here. You can also discover more tips below, after the hints and answers.

Is there any Uncommon Letter in Today's Wordle?
Unusual letters can be categorized as those that aren't included in the traditional typographer's phrase ETAOIN SHRDLU. Learn and memorize this phrase to make it sound like "Edwin Shirdloo," as if it's a friend's name.
Three letters from our mnemonic show up today. Two of them are somewhat common.

Yesterday's Wordle Answer
Yesterday's Wordle was considered moderately challenging. The hint was "connected to teapots," and the solution contained four common letters and one somewhat common letter.
Yesterday's Wordle solution was "SPOUT."
Exploring Wordle Fundamentals
The objective of Wordle is to uncover the daily secret word. Upon opening the game, you will see an empty word grid. It's up to you to determine the initial move: input any five-letter word.
You can use the colors revealed to gather clues about the word. Green signifies you correctly guessed a letter, and it's in the appropriate position. For example, if you guess "PARTY," and the actual word is "PURSE," the P and R will be green.
- Yellow signifies the letter is within the word but not in the position you guessed. For instance, if you guessed "PARTY," and the actual word is "ROAST," the R, A, and T will all be yellow.
- Gray means the letter is not present in the solution word at all. If you guessed "PARTY," and everything is gray, then the solution cannot be "PURSE" or "ROAST."
Attempt another word, and then another, aiming to detect the correct word before you exhaust your chances. You have six attempts, and then it's game over.
Effective Starter Words for Wordle
Which word should you opt for in your first attempt? The best choices tend to encompass common letters, thereby raising the likelihood of obtaining yellow and green squares to guide your guesses. Even if you receive many grays when guessing common letters, you'll still have valuable information to rule out potential answers. The New York Times's Wordle analysis bot recommends beginning with one of these:
- CRANE
- TRACE
- SLANT
- CRATE
- CARTE
Meanwhile, an MIT analysis suggests that you'll eliminate the most possibilities during the first round by starting with one of these:
- SALET
- REAST
- TRACE
- CRATE
- SLATE
Additional good options might be "ARISE" or "ROUND." Words like "ADIEU" and "AUDIO" have more vowels and help in establishing vowel connections, but you might argue that beginning with an emphasis on consonants, like "RENTS" or "CLAMP," could be more effective. Select your preferred strategy and see how it plays out.
Secrets to Emerging Victorious in Wordle
We have several Wordle strategy guides you might find interesting if you're a dedicated player. This guide explores how to leverage consonants, while this guide focuses on a letter strategy. In this advanced guide, we detail a three-part approach for fishing for hints while maximizing your chances of winning quickly.
The main difference between victorious Wordle players and those who fall short is that winners utilize their attempts to decipher which letters are contained within the word. If you're aware that the word concludes in -OUND, it's pointless to expend four attempts on MOUND, ROUND, SOUND, and HOUND; instead, merge those consonants and challenge with MARSH. If the H illuminates in yellow, you've figured out the solution.
As a side note regarding strategy: in the past, Wordle relied on an inventory of roughly 2,300 solution words. However, following its acquisition by the NYT, the game now features an editor who curates the solutions personally. At times, these solutions are somewhat intricate and wouldn't have qualified for the original list, while at others they are topical. For instance, FEAST was chosen as the solution one Thanksgiving. Keep in mind that there may be a theme.
Popular Wordle alternatives
If you're yearning for more five-letter riddles and their kin, the following top-notch Wordle substitutes, ranked by difficulty, include:
- Wheeldle, which enables you to tackle an endless sequence of puzzles
- Dordle and Quordle, which challenge you to conquer two (Dordle) or four (Quordle) puzzles all at once, utilizing the identical clues. Also, there's Octordle, with eight puzzles, and Sedecordle, having 16.
- Waffle, which displays a grid populated with several five-letter words, and you succeed by rearranging the letters until you crack the code.
- Absurdle, which alters the solution after each guess, but the clues should persist consistently. You need to be tactful and navigate it into a corner until there is only one possible solution left; then, you guess it and triumph.
- Squabble, an engaging variant where you thrust yourself against other gamers in a contest with a time limit. You incur damage if you linger too long between rounds; the winner is the last one remaining.
- Antiwordle, a challenge introduced where you strive not to guess the day’s solution. You're obliged to employ any letters you (unintentionally) guess accurately. Consequently, the longer it takes you, the more adept you become at the game.
After solving Wordle with ease, you might want to try some alternatives for more challenging games. Among the top-notch Wordle substitutes is Wheeldle, which offers an endless stream of puzzles for you to conquer. For those seeking a more complex challenge, Dordle and Quordle present two or four puzzles at once, requiring you to use the same clues for each. If you enjoy rearranging letters, Waffle might be a good fit, offering a grid filled with several five-letter words to crack.
If you're up for a challenge against other players, consider Squabble, where you compete against others with a time limit, incurring damage if you take too long between rounds. If you enjoy Antiwordle's twist, try striving not to guess the daily solution in Antiwordle, as each correct guess forces you to use that letter in future guesses, making the game more difficult the longer it takes to solve.
