Daily local transport every hour from the end of 2028
From the end of 2028, local trains on the railroad line between Nuremberg and Ingolstadt will run every hour. Until now, this has only been the case at weekends and during weekday rush hour. "This will close a gap in the implementation of hourly intervals in local rail passenger transport in Bavaria," said State Chancellery Head Florian Herrmann (CSU) following a corresponding cabinet decision on Tuesday in Munich. The tenders are to begin next year. "Everything can then finally start in 2028."
The cabinet decision will improve local rail transportation, as hourly trains will be introduced from 2028 on the Nuremberg-Ingolstadt railroad line, extending the current weekend and rush hour service. This enhancement is part of the larger plan to close gaps in Bavaria's hourly rail passenger transport implementation.
