Rolf Becker, affectionately referred to as "D-Rolf" or "Accordion-Rolf" outside of Halle, is looking to sell one of his beloved possessions: "This piece is about my Trabi that I drove from Magdeburg to Marrakesh," he shared with German Press Agency.

These iconic East German cars can fetch anywhere from 5000 to 15,000 Euro, depending on their condition. "A collector might pay less than a mysterious buyer," noted the 77-year-old resident of Halle.

As a retired man with multiple jobs under his belt, he doesn't receive a substantial pension. Hence, he made the decision to find a new owner for his bright blue racer, which he's owned since the early 90s.

Becker mentions that, in 1992, former Minister President of Sachsen-Anhalt Werner Münch was a passenger in the same car. Münch also delivered a speech on Magdeburg's Domplatz, with Becker standing atop the car. Afterward, Becker and his friends set off on a journey to Marrakesh.

Throughout his life, Becker has traveled the world in his Trabants. "During one trip to Marrakesh, the passengers were a diverse group, including some fun-loving adventurers," he recounts.

He went on to describe a fellow traveler who purportedly stole a wine bottle and a pillow during their adventure. "We don't trade beds, we trade tales," Becker added with a grin.

While he still enjoys a laid-back lifestyle, only one of his Trabis remains drivable. He owns four more vehicles, one of which serves as a landmark in Bryce Canyon, USA. They left the car there after driving across America and then to the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, according to the 77-year-old.

Becker shares his experiences while standing in a room filled with various items destined for sale. Among the possessions are automotive components, old uniforms, books, glasses, and brooches.

As for where he'd most like to display his beloved car? "Maybe in the German Museum or at the European Space Agency - Trabis have ties to the moon on a broader level," Becker responded with his characteristic wit.
