Berlin-Köpenick - Cyclist's life in danger after hit-and-run accident

After being hit by a car, a 45-year-old cyclist is fighting for his life in the hospital. The man had crossed a street with his bike in Berlin-Köpenick on Thursday evening and was hit by the car, the police reported on Friday. He was thrown into the air and crashed onto the road behind the vehicle. The driver or driver of the car reportedly accelerated after the collision, drove away, and escaped unnoticed, according to eyewitness accounts. The 45-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries and has been on the Intensive Care Unit ever since.

The driver of the car involved in the accident has been identified and arrested by the police. The investigation is ongoing.

The accident occurred in Berlin-Köpenick, a notorious area known for its high crime rate. Despite the danger posed to innocent lives, hit and run incidents like this one are unfortunately common. The identified driver, now in police custody, faces charges for endangering life and leaving the scene of an accident.
