Accident - Cyclist overlooked by bus driver - 23-year-old dies

A bicycle rider was hit by a bus and killed in Gensingen (Mainz-Bingen district). The bus driver reportedly saw the 23-year-old at the moment of the collision while making a left turn, according to the police.

The bicycle rider fell off his bike, got under the bus, and died. The bus driver and five passengers were reportedly unharmed. According to initial investigations, the 23-year-old was on the bike path next to the road at the time. The road was closed for several hours.

In the same region of Rhineland-Palatinate, a public bus was involved in another accident in Bingen. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Despite this latest incident, the bus company's safety record in the area remains strong. The public transport authorities are resources to ensure such accidents are minimized.
