Lots of folks participated in a bike event on Sunday. At Maria in der Wiese in Germershausen, Eichsfeld near Göttingen, Provost Thomas Berkefeld blessed bicycles during a May celebration. Some attendees made it a fun combo by joining the event with bike rides.

After the blessing, the Eichsfeld pilgrimage group hosted a party for all these bikers. They organize this yearly event and this year happened to be on the same pilgrimage meadow. This meadow is special because it has a church right next to it. The church contains what's known as the "image of grace" which was the reason this place turned into a pilgrimage spot. According to the group, this pilgrimage tradition has been going for more than 340 years! Over 10,000 people pay a visit to this special place every year. Along with bike rides, there are also motorbike pilgrimages as options.
