Cyber attack on the town of Mössingen: Town hall and municipal utilities closed
The town of Mössingen (Tübingen district) is no longer working - due to a cyber attack, the town hall, municipal utilities and local government offices will remain closed on Monday. As the town announced on its website, the IT infrastructure has been completely shut down. The authorities, the police and external service providers are working at full speed to rectify the disruption. It is not yet clear how long this will take, said a city spokeswoman in the morning. However, they can still be reached by telephone. The spokesperson did not want to say whether a ransom demand had been made for reasons of investigative tactics. The cyber attack was noticed last Friday. The "Reutlinger General-Anzeiger" had previously reported.
The cyber attack in Mössingen has raised concerns about potential online threats, as crime now extends to the digital realm. Some speculate that similar attacks could target other municipalities using the internet as a weapon.
