Customs officials inspect hotels and dining establishments.

Over 50 hotels and restaurants across Saxony were inspected by customs officials as part of a nationwide crackdown on illegal employment. Between Friday and Saturday, 114 officers inquired about the working conditions of 261 employees, according to the main customs office in Dresden.

Approximately 60 incidents have surfaced with signs of irregularities, including breaches of social insurance and residency rules. An in-depth investigation is forthcoming for these cases. The areas targeted include Leipzig, Dresden, Oschatz, Bautzen, Görlitz, and Zittau. The focus of the customs office's checks was on whether employers had registered their employees correctly for social insurance and if the minimum wage was being adhered to. The authorities also aimed to uncover any instances of illegal employment, freelance work, and welfare fraud.
