Investigations - Customs discover 62,000 untaxed e-shishas in Gütersloh

Following a tip-off from the food inspectorate, customs found 62,000 untaxed e-shishas in a warehouse in Gütersloh. This prevented a tax loss of around 140,000 euros, the main customs office in Bielefeld announced on Thursday. The electronic water pipes were stored in around 250 unopened packages. "The e-shishas were intended for sale and were apparently prepared accordingly in the warehouse," said a spokesperson according to the statement. The search at the wholesaler and retailer of food and tobacco took place at the end of November.

The 27-year-old owner stated that it was a case of a false delivery and denied the allegations. The Bielefeld district court ordered a search of his home in Bielefeld. His cell phone, laptop and a hard drive were confiscated.
