Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains - Customs confiscate 9000 cigarettes in family car

Customs officers have seized almost 9000 cigarettes on board a family car at the German-Czech border. During the check on Tuesday near Bad Schandau (district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains), the driver and his wife stated that they were on their way to Germany with their two grandchildren and were carrying 800 cigarettes, according to the main customs office in Dresden on Wednesday. During the search of the van, the officers then found 3000 cigarettes in the passenger compartment and 6000 more behind the exhaust grille. According to customs, a tax loss of over 2000 euros was prevented. The couple are being investigated.
