Curiates new investor for Warnow Clinic in Bützow
A solution is emerging for the hospital in Bützow (Rostock district), which is currently undergoing insolvency proceedings. After some turbulent weeks, the Curiates Group has succeeded in finding an investor for the Warnow-Klinik, insolvency administrator Ulrike Hoge-Peters announced in Rostock on Thursday. This is a milestone in the preservation of the Warnow-Klinik. The Curiates Group operates several medical care centers in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The NDR had previously reported.
One goal in the future orientation of the clinic is to achieve close networking between outpatient and inpatient care for patients, said the managing director of the Curiates Group, Marco Krüger. With the support of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the clinic will also be able to ensure local care in the future.
One of the reasons given by the clinic management in August for the insolvency was that remuneration based on flat rates per case had put Bützow, like other smaller basic and standard care clinics, in financial difficulties. The hospital had not been in the black since 2019, according to Managing Director Wolfgang Grimme at the time.
The loss of income during the coronavirus pandemic and rising wage costs for the approximately 200 employees, according to Grimme, had further exacerbated the situation. It had recently been possible to reduce losses from around two to one million euros per year. However, a trip to the insolvency judge could not be avoided. The insolvency proceedings were opened on October 1.
The successful investor acquisition by Curiates for the Warnow Clinic in Bützow will significantly improve the healthcare services offered to municipalities in the region. Now that the clinic is under new ownership, it's expected to collaborate more closely with local hospitals and municipal healthcare facilities to provide comprehensive health care.
