Cup: SSC Palmberg Schwerin fails against Vilsbiburg
The dream of winning the cup again is over for the SSC Palmberg Schwerin volleyball team. On Wednesday evening, the defending champions surprisingly lost 3:0 (21:25, 20:25, 23:25) in the quarter-finals at Rote Raben Vilsbiburg and were therefore eliminated.
The team from Mecklenburg, who had won the Bundesliga clash four days ago with a commanding 3:0, had little going right from the start in the first set. The visitors quickly trailed 5:11 and were unable to turn the tide. In the second set, the SSC managed to draw level at 18:18 after trailing 13:18. However, it was not to be enough for more. And the Bundesliga leaders also failed to find their form in the decisive third period. Vilsbiburg earned five match points, four of which the team of Head Coach Felix Koslowski was able to fend off, but was no longer able to prevent the end.
Despite their recent victory in the Bundesliga clash, the SSC Palmberg Schwerin women's volleyball team suffered a crushing 3:0 defeat in the DVV Cup quarter-finals against Rote Raben Vilsbiburg. This result means they are out of contention for another DVV Cup title.
