Cultural foundation supports 55 Saxon artists with scholarships
The Saxony Cultural Foundation plans to support 55 artists from the Free State of Saxony with scholarships next year. A total of 390,000 euros will be spent on this, the foundation announced in Dresden on Thursday. In addition to location-based work grants in the fields of visual arts, literature, performing arts, music and film, some artists will be given the opportunity to travel abroad for their work.
For example, two artists from Leipzig are going to the USA and another artist to Slovakia. According to the foundation, the number of applicants has increased. For 2024, there were a total of 462 - around 100 more applications than in the previous year.
The scholarships awarded by the Saxony Cultural Foundation cater to various artistic disciplines, including visual arts, literature, performing arts, music, and film. Some of the selected artists will use their grants to further their work internationally, with two Leipzig-based artists heading to the USA and another to Slovakia.
