Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden visits Hesse
During a visit to the Rhine-Main region on Friday, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden discussed the links between Hesse and her home country. Her Royal Highness is an "incredibly likeable, open-minded, opinionated personality who is open to discussion", said Minister President Boris Rhein (CDU) following a meeting at the State Chancellery in Wiesbaden. The conversation had been held in German and had covered economic and cultural topics as well as politics.
In the morning, Crown Princess Victoria had visited the Swedish medical technology company Getinge in Frankfurt. Josef Hinterberger, President DACH & BeNeLux at Getinge, showed her various medical devices such as operating tables and respiratory technology. For a non-medical professional, the Crown Princess asked very detailed questions, said Hinterberger. The Crown Princess herself did not answer any questions from the press.
At the reception in the State Chancellery, Minister President Rhein presented Her Royal Highness with a bouquet of flowers. Crown Princess Victoria also took a few minutes to greet several hundred fans who had been waiting for her in the rain outside the building.
After signing the State Chancellery's Golden Book, there were more gifts: the Crown Princess received a porcelain Hessian lion and a Pippi Longstocking book. At the State Chancellery, she was greeted by warm applause from the staff.
The visit took place as part of the Swedish-German Business Day, which includes a business summit, a gala dinner in the Wiesbaden Kurhaus and the presentation of the Swedish Business Award. On Monday, Prime Minister Rhein and Queen Silvia of Sweden will open the first Childhood House in Hesse - a child protection facility in Frankfurt.
