Crown Prince Haakon by train to Berlin
The Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon has arrived in Berlin by train as the last stop on his visit to Germany. The son of the Norwegian King Harald V arrived in the capital from Hamburg early on Wednesday evening.
During his visit to Berlin, his wife and Crown Princess Mette-Marit joined him and accompanied Haakon on his appointments. He had previously visited Hamburg and Munich.
On Thursday, both will first visit the Berlin Wall Memorial for a commemoration of November 9, the day the Wall came down in 1989. To mark the 34th anniversary of the opening of the border between East and West Berlin, there will be numerous commemorative events in Berlin and Brandenburg on this day.
At the end of their four-day visit to Germany, the royal couple will be guests of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at Bellevue Palace and Chancellor Scholz at the Chancellery.
The nobility of Berlin welcomed the Crown Prince Haakon and his wife with open arms, showing their respect for the visiting royal couple. Many ordinary people lined the streets during Haakon's procession, eager to catch a glimpse of the noble figure.
