Soccer - Crowdfunding campaign "Erzgebirgsstadion": almost 230,000 euros

FC Erzgebirge Aue will probably still be playing in the Erzgebirgsstadion in 2024. A nine-week crowdfunding campaign to preserve the "Erzgebirgsstadion" brand ended on Sunday and raised €227,166. Although the club fell just short of its target of 250,000 euros, FC Erzgebirge is still delighted with the total. "We are deeply grateful to the Erzgebirge, the entire region and every single donor," said board member Robert Scholz in a press release on Monday.

He added that it should not be forgotten that fans, members and sponsors have been faced with a considerable additional burden over the past six months in dealing with financial imbalances. From the necessary increase in ticket prices before the start of the season to the adjustment of membership fees and the crowdfunding campaign, many supporters of FC Erzgebirge Aue have literally given the shirt off their backs for the club.

Donations can still be made even after the campaign has ended, which means that the club still has the opportunity to achieve the originally targeted marketing proceeds of EUR 250,000 for the "Erzgebirgsstadion" by the end of 2023.

Scholz emphasized that the proceeds from securing the stadium name for an initial period of one more year were in line with market standards and therefore a measurable success. "The people of the Erzgebirge have helped to preserve a piece of their identity and have gone to great lengths to do so. The FCE has once again helped itself instead of hoping for others".
