Mecklenburg Lakeland Area - Crooked swindler fleeces elderly man for €20,000.

An elderly 66-year-old resident in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district was targeted by a phone scam and ended up losing a huge sum of 20,000 euros. Neubrandenburg police recently disclosed this information on Tuesday. The swindler posed as the man's son, claiming he had gotten into a fatal car collision that led to a pregnant woman's death. Consequently, he needed cash for bail at the police station.

Subsequently, the 66-year-old man received a call from a supposed police officer, whose voice differed, reaffirming the incident, mentioning a defense attorney he should contact. This lawyer demanded a bail fee of 71,000 euros. That very evening, a courier arrived at the victim's doorstep to retrieve the prearranged sum of 20,000 euros in cash. The police advise against such fraudulent schemes through telephone calls as they could have criminal intentions.
