Criminal proceedings: Drivers with blue lights overtake police officers
A police officer on the A7 highway in Swabia noticed a tailgater pretending to be a civilian police car with a flashing blue light on the radiator grille. The car had its blue lights switched on, as the police reported on Tuesday. The 61-year-old driver was not a police officer, but probably wanted to make faster progress on the highway.
When a convoy of vehicles had formed in the left-hand lane near Altenstadt on Monday, the man drove past the vehicles on the right with his blue lights on, according to the information provided. There was also a police officer in a civilian police car in the convoy who thought the man's driving style was strange. He also switched on his blue lights and stopped the man. The blue light was confiscated and the 61-year-old is now facing criminal proceedings for, among other things, usurping authority.
In Swabia, traffic misconduct led to criminal proceedings for a driver who used a blue light to bypass traffic and overtake a police officer. Unbeknownst to him, his action was being closely observed by another police officer in a convoy, resulting in the confiscation of his blue light and potential legal consequences.
