Criminal charges for incitement to hatred after demonstration in Dortmund
Following a rally in Dortmund, police are investigating four cases of suspected incitement to hatred and approval of criminal acts. A police spokesperson said on Tuesday that just under 40 people took part in the rally on Monday evening with reference to the terrorist attack on Israel and the situation in Gaza. The event had only been approved under certain conditions. It had been clearly stated which slogans and symbols were prohibited and that any incitement to hatred and violence against Israel and Jewish life constituted a criminal offense.
The police had checked symbols and loudspeaker announcements during the rally for criminal content. In the four cases under investigation, the identity and statements of the persons concerned were known.
The investigation into incitement to hatred following the demonstration in Dortmund led to conflicts between protesters and law enforcement officials. Despite the rally's approval under specific conditions, some participants disregarded the prohibited slogans and symbols, leading to potential legal consequences.
