- Criminal Advocate Advocates for Lifetime Imprisonment
In the trial at the Potsdam Regional Court for the murder of a teacher, the authorities have requested lifelong imprisonment for both accused individuals. During a nearly four-hour closing argument, the prosecutor also proposed verifying the aggravating circumstance, which usually prohibits parole for 15 years. The two individuals are alleged to have met three murder criteria: greed, premeditation, and low motives.
Last May, a 40-year-old teacher was fatally shot in her car on the A9 near Brück (Potsdam-Mittelmark district). Her former romantic partner and his former school colleague are now under trial. They are accused of conspiring to kill the victim after a prolonged custody battle over their child. According to the prosecution, the woman was eventually coerced off the highway by the school colleague and then killed.
Accused Point Fingers at Each Other
So far, the trial, which has lasted over 35 days and involved more than 180 witnesses, has not found the murder weapon, and neither accused has admitted guilt. Instead, the two individuals have pointed the finger at each other. The prosecution, however, asserts that they acted together, citing WhatsApp conversations and cell phone location data.
As per the authorities, the ex-partner had frequently expressed a desire to "eliminate" the mother of his child to various individuals. Once, he even publicly threatened her when their child injured its foot in her presence. Initially, he only vaguely hinted at the idea of removing the woman to his former school colleague. Over time, however, the plans are said to have become more specific, according to the prosecution.
In the end, both are said to have procured a "non-traceable vehicle." The ex-partner also allegedly obtained a handgun. Before his school colleague carried out the plan, he sold his bungalow to flee to a foreign country in a mobile home after the crime. However, this plan failed when the mobile home was damaged in Austria. Both were eventually apprehended independently in Germany.
Despite neither accused admitting guilt, the prosecution believes they acted together based on WhatsApp conversations and cell phone location data. The ex-partner's desire to "eliminate" the victim, as expressed to others, played a significant role in the alleged plot. The two individuals procured a "non-traceable vehicle" and weapons for the crime.
