- Creative mix of arts and drinks: State Philharmonic extends job application invitation
Sipping Sauvignon Blanc with Stravinsky, Shaken Martini with Shostakovich: The Rhineland-Palatinate State Philharmonic sets up a unique festival lounge to bond musicians and patrons. "We aim to casually chat about the upcoming performances," shared Intendant Beat Fehlmann of the Press Agency in Ludwigshafen.
The substantial symphony orchestra thrives on the interaction with musical executions and fostering relationships. "Alcohol isn't required for this," Fehlmann reminded, "but it can certainly join the fun."
Connecting with the crowd
The inaugural festival night is slated for September 4th at 20:30 in the Philharmonie. Fehlmann and the chief conductor Michael Francis will dissect the intriguing allure of Richard Wagner and Gustav Mahler's masterpieces and interact with the viewers. The next day, compositions by these two maestros will be on display in the festival concert "Modern Era: San Francisco."
"Modern Era boasts a bold agenda," Fehlmann stated. "Simultaneously, these compositions harbor numerous parallels with our modern lives, the era we live in. We desire to unveil these similarities in our conversation with our audience."
Home-brewed cocktail to match the festival theme
Visualize this: musicians manning the bar, serving drinks, double-bassist Christoph Haaß even concocted his own mix: blue and gold inspired by the festival. Last year, the state Philharmonic experimented with this setup for the first time, Fehlmann divulged. "It was incredibly well-received and established a genuine festival vibe for us."
Another event is lined up for September 13th. Pianist Joseph Moog will be the guest. He will precede his performance at "Modern Era: Baden-Baden" in Pfalzbau the following day, showcasing the Turangalîla Symphony. The title is an ancient Indian word for "galloping steed."
The unique festival lounge provides an opportunity for musicians to connect with the crowd over a shared love for Music. Fehlmann and Moog will serve drinks and chat with attendees, creating a relaxed atmosphere where patrons can discuss the parallels between the Music of the past and modern life.
