- Crashed money transportation vehicle on A7 highway.
A heavily armed money transfer truck veered off the A7 close to Illertissen (in the Neu-Ulm district) and flipped over. The truck's 44-year-old driver lost control in a wet curve, leading the vehicle to skid and veer onto the grassy median. The truck then tumbled down the slippery embankment, finally coming to rest upside down amidst trees and bushes.
The three occupants managed to escape unharmed from the overturned vehicle. However, the driver escaped unscathed, while the two passengers sustained minor and moderate injuries. Given that the truck was designed to carry large sums of money and valuables, extra law enforcement personnel were summoned to safeguard the remaining contents at the site. Regrettably, the precious cargo remained trapped inside the overturned vehicle.
The transport company promptly dispatched a backup armored vehicle to recover the valuables at the scene. The authorities are currently investigating the driver for alleged reckless behavior.
The authorities are considering the role of weather conditions in the accident, as the wet curve might have contributed to the driver's loss of control. The investigation into the incident also involves examining the maintenance and safety protocols of [Transport and telecommunications] companies to ensure compliance with regulations.
