Education - Craft training more popular again
In Southern Saxony-Anhalt, more young people are applying for vocational training in handicrafts than in previous years. The Handwerkskammer Halle reported that 839 new apprenticeship contracts in handicrafts had been registered in the first half of the year. This means that 56 more apprenticeships have been signed in the current year than in the same period last year (783). Even in the first half of 2022, there was an increase of more than 100 apprentices.
"In the spring and summer months, the majority of apprenticeship contracts for the coming training year are usually closed," said Britta Grahneis, Vice President of the Handwerkskammer Halle. She was pleased that more and more young people were choosing handicrafts. According to the data, 20% of the 839 trainees were female.
In Saxony-Anhalt, the Chamber of Crafts Halle continues to see an upward trend in apprenticeships for the craft sector, with 56 additional contracts signed this year compared to the first half of 2021. By the end of the summer, it's projected that half of the year's apprenticeships in crafts will be secured in Saxony-Anhalt.
