Börde district - Cow runs in front of train and dies: Railroad line closed
A cow has run in front of a regional train in the Börde district and died. The train driver was unable to prevent the collision on Tuesday on the line between Zielitz and Mahlwinkel despite braking maneuvers, according to the federal police in Magdeburg on Wednesday. The railroad line had to be closed for around two and a half hours and there were several train cancellations and delays. The fire department was called out to rescue the cow. No people were injured, it said.
The owner of the animal stated that the cow had escaped from the paddock while driving the herd and had run in front of the train. Investigation proceedings were initiated against him for dangerous interference with rail traffic, it was reported.
