Court Upholds Ban on AfD Mobilization in Mannheim Marketplace
Mayor Christian Specht of Mannheim, a member of the CDU, prohibited events, displays, and assemblies on the city's market square following a police officer's fatal stabbing on Tuesday. He also intended to shift an AfD rally set for Friday night to a different location.
At first, the AfD's state association successfully submitted an emergency request to the Karlsruhe Administrative Court, which determined that the rally could occur on the market square. However, the VGH has now reversed this judgment with its final, irrevocable verdict. The court will eventually elaborate on its reasoning for the decision.
