Coastal campsite - Court tackles rainbow camp disagreement

The Stralsund District Court will hear a conflict between the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and a longtime operator of the Regenbogen Camping Site in Prerow on Monday (1 pm). The issue at hand before the 6th Civil Chamber revolves around the validity of the rental agreement, which the state revoked on December 31, 2023. The Regenbogen AG, operating from Schleswig-Holstein, has managed the site for roughly 30 years and disagrees with the cancellation.

The company asserts that the lease agreement remains valid until 2042. The state, however, disagrees. The conflict centers on a 15-hectare portion of the site that houses sanitary structures and power facilities. A second lawsuit is also pending in the Rostock District Court involving another area of the site, where caravans for permanent campers are situated. In that case, the state-owned Environmental and Nature Protection Foundation MV has filed a lawsuit to clear the land of the Regenbogen AG.
