Parties - Court rules on the parliamentary group status of independent voters
The State Constitutional Court intends to announce its decision on the status of the BVB/Freie Wähler parliamentary group in the Brandenburg state parliament on Monday. The aim is to make the decision on Friday and announce it to the parties involved in the proceedings and the public on Monday, a spokeswoman for the state constitutional court said in response to a request.
MP Philip Zeschmann left the BVB/Freie Wähler parliamentary group at the beginning of November and switched to the AfD parliamentary group. As a result, the four remaining Free Voters MPs in the state parliament lost their parliamentary group status. This means considerable restrictions on their parliamentary work. The chairman of BVB/Free Voters, Péter Vida, has filed an urgent appeal against this decision by the state parliament with the state constitutional court. The aim is to enforce the preservation of the party's status as a parliamentary group by means of a dispute between organs.
