- Court rejects warrant for arrest for shooting in Neumünster

After a stomach shot on an open street in Neumünster, the district court rejected a detention order requested by the public prosecutor's office against a 58-year-old for attempted manslaughter. Against this, the public prosecutor's office has lodged an appeal, said the senior public prosecutor Birgit Heß to the German Press Agency. The victim was a 31-year-old Turkish man. The nationality of the suspected perpetrator is still not clear.

The background of the dispute on Wednesday is said to be financial disagreements. According to initial findings by the investigators, there was an appointment between the men. The 31-year-old was reportedly standing on a sidewalk when the suspected perpetrator arrived by car. He is said to have shot at the man from the car. It is still unclear, however, whether the driver stopped beforehand or shot while driving past.

Search for the weapon

Meanwhile, investigators are searching for the weapon. Divers were in action in a pond in the city center in the morning, as a police spokesman said. The 31-year-old man was severely injured by a stomach shot. He was taken to a hospital after the incident and is no longer in critical condition, according to earlier statements by the public prosecutor's office. The suspected perpetrator fled after the incident but later turned himself in to the police.

The senior public prosecutor, Birgit Heß, informed the German Press Agency about the public prosecutor's office lodging an appeal against the court's decision to reject the detention order. The German Press Agency was also involved in reporting the nationality of the victim, a 31-year-old Turkish man.
