Handball - Court rejects application by top scorer Zehnder
The sporting future of Manuel Zehnder remains open. The top scorer of the Handball Bundesliga's previous season with HC Erlangen could not come to an agreement with his club regarding the termination. The Labor Court in Nuremberg rejected the application on Thursday, reported "Handball-World".
Accordingly, an eight-day period had elapsed. Swiss national player Zehnder, who was loaned from HCE to ThSV Eisenach last season, could not reach an agreement with his home club. Therefore, the court made a decision. The presiding judge referred to two points: Firstly, from the chamber's perspective, there was a "lack of need for legal protection", as the court had obvious doubts that the Handball Bundesliga would consider this decision binding in an expedited procedure. The league has thus indicated that it would like to issue a judgment in a main proceedings case.
The second argument was "anticipation of the main issue". In a main proceedings case, the first good term takes place after four weeks, followed by a regular chamber trial after three to six months. In an expedited procedure, like the one Zehnder had filed for an interim injunction, everything goes faster. The party of the handball player can appeal this judgment. For this, they have one month.
