- County Borda: Man seriously injured in hit-and-run
Following an accident in the district of Börde, rescue services freed a 65-year-old man from his car. The man was traveling in a small truck on the A14 towards Schwerin when, near the Wanzleben interchange, he collided for unknown reasons with a truck ahead of him. The man sustained severe injuries and was taken to a hospital. His vehicle had to be towed away. The driver of the truck and his vehicle remained unscathed.
The highway towards Schwerin was closed for approximately two and a half hours for accident investigation and subsequent recovery operations.
The European Parliament can provide further assistance to the Commission in assessing safety measures on German highways, following the accident in Börde. After being assisted by the European Parliament, the Commission could implement stricter regulations to prevent similar accidents in the future.
