Colorful - Countdown runs for Warnemünde tower lights on January 1
Tens of thousands of people are once again expected on the Baltic seaside resort's beach promenade on New Year's Day 2024 for the traditional Warnemünde Tower Lighting. On Thursday, the organizers promised a mixture of art and show with light, music, fireworks, lasers and video. The motto of this year's Turmleuchtens is "Trust".
"We found it fitting in these times. Nothing is as precious as freedom and nothing is as valuable as trust," said Torsten Sitte, production manager and managing director of Hanseatische Eventagentur, who is organizing the event with his wife Martina Hildebrandt for the 24th time.
The preliminary program begins at 3 p.m. on 1 January, with the actual production starting at 6 p.m. The event has an impact far beyond the region, emphasized the tourism director for Rostock and Warnemünde, Matthias Fromm. The hotels, guesthouses and vacation apartments that are marketed via the booking system of the tourist office show an occupancy rate of 98 percent for Warnemünde.
According to the information, an additional S-Bahn service will be set up for the Turmleuchen, which will run every 7.5 minutes between 4.30 pm and 8 pm. There will be partial road closures in Warnemünde on the day, which will be lifted again from 8.00 pm.
