Trend sport - Corona-Trendsport Hula-Hoop - Innovation from Schwerin
The Hula-Hoop Hoop has become a popular fitness gadget during the Corona-Pandemic as fitness clubs had to close and people wanted to exercise at home. The trend later flattened out, but some have remained loyal to the rediscovered gadget. Kristin Rein from Schwerin even added a new chapter to its history: In her manufactory Hooperella, she manufactures Hula-Hoop Hoops from 100% recycling material - a development of her own, as she says.
Large Hoops for Beginners
Not all Hula-Hoop Hoops are the same. In the workshop of the 46-year-old, they hang in various sizes and strengths. Beginners require larger, thicker, and slightly heavier hoops than advanced users, says Rein. "The smaller the hoop, the more body tension I need and the faster I have to move to keep it spinning." The necessary muscle development and body control, however, must first be built up.
AOK: Effective Workout
After the Corona-Pandemic, the hype around hooping around one's own body with a plastic hoop returned. The AOK recommends the training. "With the right hoop, the training with the Hula-Hoop is an effective workout for all muscle groups and can help with weight loss," writes the health insurance on its website. It requires little time and good mood.
Kristin Rein has built a small Hula-Hoop community in Schwerin and offers courses. Participants not only let the hoops spin around their bodies but also use the device for stretching and yoga exercises. Often there are waiting lists, says the 46-year-old. Her own story may be the best advertising: When she suffered a severe disc herniation about ten years ago, she was advised to have an operation, recounts Rein. She wanted to avoid it - and reached for the hoop. "The operation did not take place."
