Crime - Convicted offender still on the run

A convicted criminal from Berlin is still on the run. The search for the 57-year-old has been unsuccessful so far, according to a spokesperson for the Senatsjustizverwaltung. The man used a supervised outing to visit his mother in Neukölln to escape. It is still being investigated by Justice how he managed to evade the two justice officials.

The 57-year-old, according to the Justice Administration, was sentenced to five years in prison for bodily harm and rape. He had already served his sentence in 2015. However, since the man was still considered dangerous, he was transferred to the custody of the Justice Vollzugsanstalt Tegel after his sentence. According to the Justice Administration, this institution could be regularly left. Forty-two outings have passed unnoticed so far.

The third case this year

This is the third time in the current year that convicted criminals in Berlin have used an outing for their escape.
