Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's police will once again participate in an international control week for more road safety starting Monday. "Speeding is still one of the main causes of accidents on Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's roads," said Interior Minister Christian Pegel (SPD). Last year, there was an injury-causing traffic accident every ten hours due to excessive speed.

The police will participate in the European-wide and cross-border controls as part of its own monthly "Drive.Arrive.Live" campaign. According to the interior minister, this aims to raise awareness among road users about the issue of permitted speed.

So far this year, 47 people have been killed on Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's roads. "But our police are just one pillar in the overall package to increase road safety on our roads - and to achieve the 'Vision.Zero', that is, zero fatalities in road traffic," Pegel emphasized.

The "Start of the week" marks the commencement of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's police participation in the international control week for road safety. This initiative, initiated by Interior Minister Christian Pegel, aims to reduce speed-related accidents on Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's roads.
