Continuous rain, squalls and icy conditions expected in Bavaria
After a short break in the rain, continuous rain is expected again in southern Bavaria until the weekend, which could lead to flooding in some areas.
However, according to the Bavarian State Office for the Environment, the flood situation in large parts of Bavaria has eased for the time being. In the upper Main area, there are only isolated cases of flooding and the water levels of the Danube, Führt and Itz have decreased. According to the information, however, the Free State is already facing a new flood threat on Friday.
According to the German Weather Service (DWD), there will be more heavy rainfall in Swabia and large parts of the Alpine foothills from Thursday afternoon until Friday morning. In addition, strong winds and squalls are expected temporarily in southern Bavaria during the night to Friday.
On Friday, rain and snowfall may continue during the course of the day in the Alps. Temperatures are expected to drop significantly by Saturday - to as low as minus three degrees. Slippery conditions are therefore possible in some areas.
According to the DWD, it will continue to be rainy and cloudy at the weekend. Temperatures will rise again on Sunday to up to 12 degrees.
Despite the temporary improvement in the flood situation, the forecasted heavy rainfall and strong winds in southern Bavaria on Friday may cause flooding to resurface in some areas. The continuous rain and squalls could exacerbate the weather conditions previously experienced.
