Continuous rain expected in parts of Baden-Württemberg

It is also set to be wet in Baden-Württemberg on Tuesday. The German Weather Service (DWD) is expecting continuous rain, especially in the Allgäu and Black Forest. The DWD had already warned of heavy continuous rain on Monday. As a result, the water levels of the rivers would rise significantly, it said.

In the Black Forest, the weather service warned of heavy continuous rain until midday on Tuesday. According to the spokesperson, there could be up to 85 liters per square meter in some areas. In congested areas, it could even rain up to 100 liters per square meter. The weather service also warned of continuous rain in parts of the Allgäu. There could be up to 100 liters per square meter by Wednesday afternoon, and up to 120 liters in congested areas.

Due to the rain, the flood forecasting center expects water levels in Baden-Württemberg's rivers to rise significantly. Waters in the south of the state are particularly affected, it said. These are in particular the southern Black Forest, the upper Neckar, the upper Danube and the Allgäu. Flood warning values could also be exceeded.

In order to drive safely on wet roads, ADAC Württemberg recommends reducing the speed to well below 80 kilometers per hour. You should also avoid ruts, which often occur in the right-hand lane of busy highways and freeways. Where rainwater cannot run off properly, aquaplaning occurs, it said. "Heavy steering movements are generally taboo in heavy rain," the automobile club also announced.

According to the DWD, it will not be dry again in many parts of the state until Thursday. The afternoon should definitely be enjoyed. After it is expected to remain dry on Friday, rain is expected again at the weekend.

The heavy continuous rain in the Black Forest could escalate into a storm, as the weather service forecasts up to 120 liters per square meter in congested areas. Driving conditions in Baden-Württemberg are expected to be challenging, with rain potentially causing aquaplaning on roads.
