Regional democratic processes, or in simpler terms, regional vote-offs - Contender from the AfD party, Nockemann, advocates for the abolition of firewalls.
The leading AFD candidate for the 2025 Hamburg state election, Dirk Nockemann, advocates for dismantling "barriers," following his party's impressive showing in Saxony and Thuringia elections. He criticized those who stick to "anti-democratic barriers," disregarding the public's wish, stating, "They're causing irreparable harm to our democracy." The 66-year-old expressed this sentiment after initial projections. It's high time to halt exclusionary practices.
He also congratulated his "AFD colleagues from Thuringia and Saxony" on their election success. He highlighted that the AFD in Thuringia secured a substantial victory by a landslide. He also acknowledged his party's improvement in Saxony since 2019. After these elections, he said, "Notably, citizens in the east are tired of barriers, they yearn for a power shift, with a robust AFD in office."
In Thuringia, the conservative party emerged as the most powerful force in a state election for the first time. Based on ARD and ZDF forecasts, they are leading with 31.2 to 33.1 percent (2019: 23.4 percent). In Saxony, they are also making strides and are in a tight competition with the CDU for the top spot. There, the CDU stands at 31.6 to 31.7 percent (2019: 32.1 percent), while the AFG is close by with 30.4 to 31.4 percent (27.5).
Dirk Nockemann expressed his excitement about the AFD's success in both Thuringia and Saxony, stating, "Citizens in the east are eager for a Party like AFD to bring about a change, tired of the existing barriers." In his celebration speech, he also praised his "AFD colleagues" for their significant victories in these elections.
