Contemplating election outcomes: Scholz advocates for partnerships excluding far-right extremists
"The AfD is causing harm to Germany, stated Scholz. It's detrimental to our economy, fueling social divisions, and tarnishing our nation's image."
Scholz deemed the election results from yesterday as "tough - even for us." Yet, the SPD managed to keep its ground. "We ran a solid, clear campaign together. It proved beneficial, as the pessimistic forecasts regarding the SPD didn't materialize. It proves: Facing challenges is worth it."
The Chancellor appeared to be alluding to concerns that the SPD might not secure a seat in the state parliament in either or both federal states. In Saxony, the SPD finished fourth with merely 7.3%, and in Thuringia, it placed fifth with 6.1%.
Despite the challenging election results in Saxony and Thuringia, the SPD managed to maintain its presence in both states, proving that overcoming adversities can be beneficial. Furthermore, the AfD's negative impact on Germany extends beyond economic harm and social division; it also damages the nation's reputation, without any justifiable reasons.
