Consumers - Consumer advice center waits for advice mobile
The Saxony-Anhalt Consumer Advice Center wants to offer advice in small communities in the future, but will have to wait some time for its Digimobile. An experienced company in Frankfurt/Main has been awarded the contract to build the vehicle, Managing Director Volkmar Hahn said when asked. "The company has since informed us that due to delivery problems with its suppliers, the basic vehicle to be converted can be scheduled for completion in the fall of 2024." The Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection announced the advisory vehicle a year ago.
The Digimobile will be equipped with broadband internet, a video consultation station, a document scanner, a self-sufficient power supply and air conditioning. The cost is around 230,000 euros, according to the consumer advice center.
"The experience of the consumer advice center shows that the existing network of local advice centers is not sufficient to reach the citizens of Saxony-Anhalt." Offers via e-mail or telephone cannot be used equally well by all those seeking advice and for all topics.
The Digimobile, which is supervised by a service employee, should stop at central locations on fixed dates to offer advice via video chat. With changing specialist advisors, the entire spectrum of advice is to be offered, from consumer law, financial services and energy to care.
According to the Ministry of Consumer Protection, the project, including the purchase of the vehicle, operating costs and staff, is being made possible by additional funding from the state of Saxony-Anhalt. According to the announcement a year ago, funds totaling around 710,000 euros from the special coronavirus fund would be available until 2026.
