Consumer advice center - Consultations still free of charge in the event of an impending energy cut-off

The consumer advice center in Hesse advises people free of charge if they are unable to pay their electricity bills. The project, which has been running since 2020 to combat energy cut-offs, will now remain a permanent service, as the consumer advice center reported on Friday.

Figures from the Federal Network Agency show that the project has been successful, with fewer power cuts being imposed in Hesse as a result. The consumer advice center can, for example, help to agree interest-free instalment payments with the energy supplier and thus avoid a cut-off. The project is used in particular by people living alone, senior citizens and recipients of citizen's benefit.
