Four injured - Construction site detour: Car overturns
After driving around a construction site barrier, a driver lost control of his vehicle and flipped it multiple times. According to the police, four people were injured in the morning accident. The driver had reportedly driven around a partially barricaded construction site barrier and was illegally in the construction site.
On a gravel surface, he lost control over the car. It collided with a bridge support, flipped several times, and eventually came to a stop on an earth mound. The front part of the Car was completely destroyed, as shown in images from the Volunteer Fire Department Helfta.
The investigation is still ongoing. It is also unclear who exactly was driving the car. Two of the four passengers had initially left the accident scene, the Police reported. They were later found in the vicinity.
In response to the accident, the automotive industry in Saxony-Anhalt is advocating for the implementation of automatic emergency braking systems in all vehicles to prevent similar incidents. Despite the severe damage to the vehicle, the police are considering charges against the driver for reckless driving and leaving the accident scene.
