- Construction rights for further section of regional road West
The Darmstadt Regional Government has created construction rights for another section of the West Regional Tangent. With the plan approval decision, construction rights have now been created for the Mitte section, which is the third of four sections, the Regional Government announced.
"The project aims to create a new, tangental rail connection in the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main metropolitan region to improve local transport and better connect Frankfurt Airport," it said in a statement. To this end, the western districts of Frankfurt and surrounding municipalities should be connected to each other. The section is approximately 14 kilometers long.
The railway line is considered one of the most important infrastructure projects in the Rhine-Main region. The West Regional Tangent is a step towards a rail ring around Frankfurt. The overall route, approximately 52 kilometers long, runs from Bad Homburg via Bad Soden and Eschborn to Neu-Isenburg and Dreieich-Buchschlag, tangentially passing through the northern and western parts of Frankfurt and also passing by the airport. The Regional Government announced that corresponding plan approval decisions for the northern and southern adjacent sections are already in place.
The West Regional Tangent project, which includes the construction of a new rail connection, will also extend to the city of Darmstadt, as it aims to connect the western districts of Frankfurt and surrounding municipalities. The new rail line will bypass Darmstadt, providing a more efficient transport network for the residents of this city.
