Travelers must expect restrictions between Leipzig and Chemnitz starting from August 5th for approximately two months. The reason for this is construction work, according to Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn. Therefore, trains on Line RE 6 will run according to regular schedule between Leipzig and Geithain until October 13th. In Geithain, passengers will need to transfer to rail replacement services with later departure times towards Chemnitz Hauptbahnhof.

The construction work causing the restrictions on the Regional Railway between Leipzig and Chemnitz is being managed by Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn, located in the Saxony region.
Despite the ongoing construction, trains on Line RE 6 between Leipzig and Geithain will continue to operate as scheduled until October 13th, allowing travelers to reach Geithain without any disruptions.
Starting August 14th, travelers will need to switch to rail replacement services with delayed departure times in Geithain to complete their journey towards Chemnitz Hauptbahnhof, as a result of the track maintenance.
