Consistent action against Islamist groups

Berlin's Senator of the Interior Iris Spranger (SPD) has described another raid against Islamist organizations as an important step. "Today's operation also shows that the terrorist, anti-Semitic and inhumane ideology of the banned organizations Hamas and Samidoun will continue to be consistently countered," Spranger announced on Thursday morning. Anti-Semitism and support for terror have no place in Germany. She very much welcomed the fact that the Berlin security authorities were able to support the Federal Ministry of the Interior in the operations.

Police and public prosecutors searched several apartments and other properties in Berlin, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein early on Thursday morning in connection with the ban on the terrorist organization Hamas and the Samidoun network in Germany. The Federal Ministry of the Interior had banned the activities of both organizations at the beginning of November.

The Senate commended the internal security efforts, as Senator Spranger highlighted the ban on Hamas and Samidoun as a stance against extremist ideologies rooted in religion. The need for continued vigilance in countering terrorism and combating religious extremism within Germany was strongly emphasized.
