A truck driver on the A93 highway in the Upper Palatinate region collided with a fire truck that was securing an accident scene. The 61-year-old driver apparently overlooked the fire truck on the hard shoulder and collided with it more or less unchecked, a police spokesman reported.

The articulated lorry also broke through the crash barrier near Windischeschenbach (Neustadt an der Waldnaab district) and came to a stop in a ditch. The driver sustained minor injuries. The occupants of the fire truck remained unharmed, according to the reports. Earlier, a car had collided with the crash barrier for unknown reasons. Several fire departments secured the accident scene. As a result of the two incidents, the A93 was initially closed in that area.

The collision on the A93 resulted in the closure of a section of the highway due to multiple accidents. Despite the precautions taken by several fire departments, another car unfortunately hit the crash barrier earlier.
